Now here’s a “ruff” response.

After Rosie O’Donnell riffed on autistic kids during a recent stand-up set, a rep from the National Autism Association barked back — calling the comic a “piece of dog s—,” according to TMZ.

“(She) crossed all lines of being a good human being to make a desperate, low-blow joke,” the rep reportedly added.

O’Donnell did damage control after her joke that she’d rather have “autistic triplets” than her troublesome teenage kids drew ire from the Internet.

“The joke is about my feeling incompetent as a parent of teens — that even the most challenging of parenting situations (autistic triplets) is preferable to raising (a) teen,” she said in a statement obtained by the Daily News. “Although it was not my intent to hurt people, I realize I did.”

“I have 2 children with spectrum disorders,” the 53-year-old mom of five continued. “I am aware of the challenges and stigma associated with autism.”

The comedian has also raised money to support autism organizations and even helped produce an HBO documentary on the subject, “A Mother’s Courage,” she added.

But the former “View” co-host was already defending the questionable quip seconds after delivering it during Sunday’s “Night of Comedy” at Carolines on Broadway.

When some audience members gasped, she replied, “Trust me, that’s not right. I’ve got some spectrum kids. Shut the f— up.”

And after one critic accused her of making autistic children “the punchline of a joke” while responding to a Daily News story about O’Donnell, the comedian herself fired back.

“I am the punch line — not ur kids,” she tweeted.

That punchline came as part of a longer bit in which O’Donnell, whose ongoing drama with estranged 18-year-old daughter Chelsea O’Donnell has lately played out in the public eye, complained that kids “blame you for everything.”

“Really, it’s not been easy,” she said.
